Onza Chilli Plug Plants

Hot Chilli Pepper Onza. Originating from Oaxaca Mexico, this rarely offered thin walled medium hot pepper is locally used sauces and soups. The fruits average 3” long by ¾” wide developing green and maturing to a deep red. The plants have a slightly unusual almost fuzzy feel to the stems and leaves with white flowers.

The peppers are strange in shape and colour and have very thin walls. The pods are a medium sized pepper with a blocky body and is very thin and hollow. The pods can range in size from 1.5 to 3 inches across. 

Fruits start out dark green in color and turn to a strange deep chocolate brown almost black (when in full sun) colour when fully ripe. Plants can get to 3+ feet tall and tend to be a medium sized plant but if pruned and potted they tend to stay small like 2 feet tall and bushy.

 Pods have an amazing rich coffee like flavor with a very nice uniqueness to them. they are for the most part not really hot at all but some peppers may be very hot so be careful! 

These make a great drying pepper with the walls being thin an will dry on the plant if left on. It's also good for pickling too! It mostly used in sauces and chutneys. Very rare and hard to get variety from mexico! Open pollinated mid to late season 70 to 90+ days.
