Huge Deep Cell Plants Crowns

Superb Quality Rhubarb Plants Crowns

These are supplied as young Multi Crowns. That means your going to get a plant with multiple crows, which will give you a better plant next year and more rhubarb. This time of year the plants will arrive without leaves, the business end being under ground, which will grow over winter.

(NOT organic) An organic version is also available from us

Rhubarb Victoria is a popular, traditional variety of rhubarb known for its high yield, excellent balance of sweetness and acidity, and ease of cultivation.

Stem Characteristics:
The greenish-pink stems are tender, with a sweet and acidic flavour, making them ideal for cooking and baking, particularly for pies and preserves.

Growth Habit: Rhubarb Victoria is a sturdy, upright variety that grows to a height of 60cm (24").

Cropping: Once established, it produces a heavy crop of stems, year after year. The first crop is usually harvested in April, with subsequent harvests possible until June.

Forcing: This variety responds well to forcing, allowing growers to induce earlier stem production by lifting the crowns after frost and placing them in a dark position, such as under a greenhouse bench shaded with black polythene.
  • Deep Root Cells are betterer than pot grown plants
  • Grown as Deep Cell plants, NOT tiny plug plants
  • Our big plants means they grow faster and will produce fruit quicker !
  • Plant any time of the year
  • Raised beds are best, but deep pots or direct into the ground will be ok
  • A vibrant rhubarb plant with ample foliage and thick red fresh rhubarb stalks ready to harvest from mid-spring.
  • Plant in full sun or partial shade in fertile, well-draining soil.
  • Mulch rhubarb plants annually with well-rotted organic matter.

Rhubarb's only problem is "Crown Rot". This happens when you plant into a place with inadequate drainage, hence why raised beds are best. Because of bad drainage the top of the plant rots from sitting in wet compost. Make sure you add sand, perlite, etc and raise the plant so that the crown sits above ground slightly. If planting in a pot, sit the pot on something to aid drainage.
