Buy as plants or roots.

Available as HUGE deep cell plug plants ready for planting, so you can grow them yourself, or available for cooking, or preserving in jars, in various weights of 50g (Eg 50g, 100g, 150g etc)

Growing

This variety is very fast growing so should give you a good harvest the same year as planted, if planted early enough, and will even grow in partial shade.

Grow in a fertile well-drained soil in full sun. Prepare soil deeply and plant with tip of thong around 10cm below the surface. Space 30cm to 45cm apart. It is invasive, so grow it in a container if you’re not happy for it to spread. A very hardy perennial.

Great in raised beds of at least 18" high

Plants can be planted at any time of the year, (As long as the ground is not frozen) if ordering from us during late autumn - winter periods, then obviously there will be no leaf on the product.

Growing in pots is another way to grow this variety, and is no problem over winter as the plant can withstand temperatures down to about -30°C.

Cooking

Charlemagne variety is milder in taste, compared to most other varieties.

Harvesting

If your growing the crop commercialy, best to harvest mid October.
